My paper is in the JOMS Yay!

The Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (JOMS) is a monthly journal that provides comprehensive coverage of new techniques, important developments and innovative ideas in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

JOMS is one of the best in its field worldwide and this month, it published one of our clinical case reports conducted with leading specialists at the National Cancer Institute of Mexico.

The case

The case is about a Mexican patient who suffered a major mutilation of her face as a result of cancer that started in the palate. Her case was worked on in conjunction with a team made up of oncological surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, and maxillofacial prosthodontists, among others. This multidisciplinary approach allowed us to propose a comprehensive treatment plan that allows the removal of the tumour and the functional and aesthetic rehabilitation of the patient with an implant-supported prosthesis.

The result

A few days after a very aggressive surgery, the patient was able to eat orally and have a temporary facial prosthesis that would allow her to cover the defect and thus protect the exposed tissues, as well as return to her "normal" life by drastically improving her aesthetics.
